Hikers Network volunteers are part of the Metro Wilderness Search and Rescue. This Rescue unit run by Metro Rescue co-ordinates Mountain Rescues with the help of volunteers from Mountaineering and Hiking organisations, Cavers, Climbers, Police, 4x4 Off Road Rescue and Metro Rescue having the paramedics and Doctors. The mountain rescue now have a lot more resources available to them, with much more organisations having a share in rescues. This Network of organisations in turn benefit us all.

The Hikers Network members involved, are trained along with all the other organisations. This is an important aspect with regard to the training and experience of our leaders. In turn we have been involved in most of the rescues, due to the large amount of experienced volunteers that is networked in the Hikers Network.
